Adaptt Rochester is committed to creating a community where support is accessible, relationships are valued, and families feel empowered to move forward. We believe effective service goes beyond meeting an immediate need — it requires listening, building trust, and creating consistent connections that allow individuals and families to feel supported.
As a growing organization, Adaptt continues to strengthen partnerships, expand resources, and develop programs that respond to the evolving needs of the Greater Rochester Area. Our focus remains on creating meaningful, lasting impact by combining compassion, collaboration, and action.
More about us
Adaptt Rochester was founded on a simple but powerful belief: our community's needs are constantly evolving, and the way we serve must evolve with them. We believe it is our responsibility—as human service professionals, community partners, and compassionate individuals—to create meaningful, lasting solutions that address today's challenges while building stronger futures.
Our name, ADAPTT, stands for Angels Devoted to Achieving Purpose Through Teamwork. It reflects our belief that every person possesses inherent dignity, value, and purpose. While individuals often adapt simply to survive, we believe organizations must also adapt—continuously responding to the changing needs of the families and communities they serve.
Rather than telling people what their future should look like, we walk alongside them as partners. Through compassionate case management, health-related social care, resource navigation, education, and collaborative community partnerships, we help individuals and families build confidence, overcome barriers, and achieve the purpose they define for themselves.
Adaptt Rochester was founded by Tamara Howard and Angela Wollschlager, whose combined experience in human services revealed the gaps that too often prevent individuals and families from reaching long-term stability. Recognizing that traditional systems alone could not meet every need, they envisioned an organization that would remain flexible, innovative, and responsive—adapting as the community evolves while keeping people at the center of every decision.
Today, Adaptt Rochester provides a growing continuum of support for women, children, and families throughout the Greater Rochester area. Our current initiatives include Complete Family Care, Adaptt 100 Kids, Healthy Start Rx, our Food Pantry and Clothing Closet, and additional resource navigation and family support services. Together, these programs provide essential resources, strengthen households, and create pathways toward stability, self-sufficiency, and lasting opportunity.
As Adaptt continues to grow, so does our commitment to expanding services that address the root causes of poverty, housing instability, health-related social needs, and other barriers affecting our community. We believe lasting change happens when compassion meets collaboration, and when organizations are willing to adapt alongside the people they serve.
